Yes it is possible for you to join merchant navy. There are lots of institute in India which offers course in Merchant navy for the diploma holders.You can join merchant navy either as an officer or a rating. The eligibility required for the officer and rating is mentioned below:
1. For officer:
2 year course for Diploma Holders.

2.For Rating:
Entry is for X standard student
i. 4 month Pre-Sea Course for General Purpose rating.
ii. 3 month Pre-Sea Course for Deck rating.
iii. 3 month Pre-Sea Course for Engine rating.
iv. 4 month Pre-Sea Course for Saloon rating.

The institutes which give training for the merchant navy are mentioned below:
1.T.S. Chanakya, Navi Mumbai
2.Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata.

yes you can join Merchant navy as To become a merchant navy officer, one needs to be atleast 10+2 or a diploma holder...

There will be 2 year course for Diploma Holders and successful completion you will be join merchant in either of departments

Merchant navy is one of the most prestigious careers available in India. It offers the candidates an opportunity to travel the world and have an adventurous filled work environment. There are many levels of entry for the merchant navy. As you are a diplom
candidate, you can apply for the Deck Cadet. The basic eligibility required to join as a deck cadet is to have a with more than 60% of marks in your diploma course . The candidate must also have studied English as a separate subject . The age of the candidate must also be less than 20 years of age. The candidate must have perfect eyesight without any visual aid and must not be affected with color blindness. As you have only secured 58.8% +2 you may not be eligible for the Merchant navy.

In merchant navy there are two kinds of officers :-

Deck / Navigation Officer:
He is in charge of the navigation of the ship. The command of the ship is under the Captain or Master who is a Deck/Navigation officer. He is responsible for the vessel and the passenger, cargo and crew in the vessel.

Engineering Officers:
The engineering officers are responsible for the ships engineering functions like boilers, pumps, hydraulic, fuel systems etc. The chief engineer is hence responsible for all the machines in the ship/vessel.

For diploma students, there are the following courses available:-
