I am in second year diploma in IT. i can take admission in merchant navey.and what is and what are study requirements for entrance exam..
please answer me

you can not join merchant navy, because you have doing diploma
from IT, but machanical and electrical engineer are eligible for
joining merchant navy as a marine engineering............
please try somr other field.........

yes you can take admission in merchant navy but before taking admission please go for a 6 month sea course......it will help you a lot.....

in merchant navy there are two kinds of officers :-

Deck / Navigation Officer:
He is in charge of the navigation of the ship. The command of the ship is under the Captain or Master who is a Deck/Navigation officer. He is responsible for the vessel and the passenger, cargo and crew in the vessel.

Engineering Officers:
The engineering officers are responsible for the ships engineering functions like boilers, pumps, hydraulic, fuel systems etc. The chief engineer is hence responsible for all the machines in the ship/vessel.

For diploma students, there are the following courses available:-

2 year course for Diploma Holders
Institutions :
Southern Academy of Maritime Studies (Chennai),
Vels Academy of Maritime Education & Training (Chennai)

more details will be available on their websites...........

then you will be eligible for the boarding a merchant navy ship......
you dont have to study any thing apart from your diploma books and some basics....

some institutes have got sponsorship facility .......
under this program a shipping company will sponsor your study and for that you will have to work in their company afetr the course......

check if the institute in which you are applying have it or not......

or else banks are always there to help you with their education loan.........

Sorry dear IT is of no use in Merchant Navy you can not get there.Better switch to Diploma in Mechanical or MArine Engineering, or enroll for 1 years pre sea trianing.But very,very few institute in India offers admission to Diploma holders in pre-sea training.

Dploma in INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROL,IT are of no use in Merchant Navy.Rest of all find job after completeing B.tech along with 10 monts pre-sea training in marine engineering.Or enroll for 1 years pre sea trianing in Merchant Navy.But very,very few institute in India offers admission to Diploma holders in pre-sea training.

Sorry you cannot join in the merchant navy since it is mandatory to have the Mechanical Engineering degree or else diploma in the same and also the nautical engineering which is highly preferred for the same. you can opt for the possible jobs in the information technology jobs offered in the private telecommunication companies like vodafone and bharthi telefones.

i am presently doing my diploma in marine mechanical fitter.....it is a two year course....will i get lateral entry in btech in the same field??

I dont think so, because having Diploma Engineering of 3 years/4years from any government recognised Polytechnic instiute is mandatory, for getting Lateral Entry.

Candidates those who are diploma Engineers can join Merchant Navy after a 12 monts pre-sea training as a "Deck Cadet" provided that they have completed there Diploma with at least 60% aggregate including all semester. OR they can also join as Apprentice Engineer Cadet.

Or they can also join after completing B.Tech (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic & communication) they have to undergo a 10 months pres-sea training in Marine Engineering. While those with Marine Engineering degree al ready in there hand can enroll directly after Interview and medical test.

I am not sure if Instrumentation or Control Engineers are eligible for it. I think so, but sorry for unsurity.

I dont think so !

I have heard of it, it is a Geniune Academy, nothing to worry about it.

You can opt for it. There was some controvesy regarding its name in the begining but at present its nothing, you go opt for it.

Yes ofcourse you can take admission in merchant navy but after doing a 12month pre sea training..there are some college which offers pre sea training course for the diploma holders and they are:
1.VELS Institute of science technology and advanced studies(VISTAS)pallavaram,Chennai
2.school of maritime studies,chennai
So go for it...

for the entry in the merchant navy on the basis of your profile ,

It is not possible for you,because for this a students must having diploma in the

mechanical electrical or in ece with minimum 60% marks,then you will be

applicable.

since you have done the diploma in the IT,so you are not eligible.and you can
