Electronics & Electrical Engineering candidates do have various opportunities in the government sector, whether its state or central government. However the opportunities are more in central government sector for the Electronics & Electrical Engineers.


Indian Engineering Service

IES or Indian Engineering Service will be among the top choices for the Electronics & Electrical Engineering graduates. Indian Engineering Service exam is conducted for technical jobs in various departments of central government.

There are very limited vacancies in the Indian Engineering Service that are offered through a entrance exam which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission. Naturally there will be a lot of competition in the exam and you will require to study hard to clear the Indian Engineering Service Exam.


Eligibility

1. Only Indian nationals are eligible to sit for IES.

2. B.Tech degree from a recognized university.

3. There is no percentage criteria.

4. The age limit is 21 to 30 years.

5. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC.

6. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.


Public Sector Undertaking (PSU)

There are more than 250 Public Sector Undertakings in India. Some of them are controlled by Union government while others are controlled by the state government. These companies are require engineering graduates for various jobs.

They fulfill the requirement through a process in which eligible candidates are called to appear for a written test followed by a personal interview. Each company hires individuals separately therefore there could be some changes in the procedure to select the candidates.

For example, some PSU do not conduct a written test. They directly call the eligible candidates for interview. But to be eligible for the interview, you are required to have appeared for the GATE entrance exam.

Based on your performance in B.Tech/GATE followed by interview, you will get the job.


Eligibility

1. A B.Tech degree from a recognized university.

2. Minimum of 60 percent marks.

3. There should be no pending backlogs.

4. A valid GATE score may be required.

5. The age limit is 21 to 30 years.

6. OBC candidates gets 3 years relaxation in upper age limit.

7. SC/ST candidates gets 5 years relaxation.
