For Indian Police Service, candidate needs to write Civil Service Examination.
This examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission and to be considered eligible for the exam, one must hold a bachelors degree awarded by a recognized university.

Karnataka State Open University is recognized by University Grant Commission and the distance course is approved by Distance Education Council-DEC therefore, the bachelors degree awarded by it, is acceptable for any government jobs conducted anywhere in India.

Apart from being a graduate, candidate must be within the age limit of 21-30 years.(5 years relaxation for Sc/St category and 3 years for OBC category)

sorry..you cant apply for ips just after completing your SSLc...for IPS you have to complete your graduation..
