I have secured air rank of 3500 with a score of 444...belonging to OBC catogory...and i wanted to know whether i have a chance of getting seat in iit or nit......plz answer to my question and bring me out of this confusion....

Approximately what score and rank should i score in gate ce for an m.tech seat in iit chennai or nit warangal? What is the general cut off ranks for m.tech in these institutions?

You have well mentioned your ranking and score. But you have failed to mention in which entrance exam have you scored this.


In India we have lots of Entrances once the 12th board exams are concluded like IIT JEE, AIEEE, UPTU, BITSAT, WB JEE, KIET etc...

As you say that you are from OBC quota, and you are seeking a seat in IIT/NIT. I must tell you that IIT only intakes students on the basis of its own entrance exam i.e IIT JEE.


Whereas the NIT's take intake of their students based on the AIEEE AIR and the score.


So you cannot connect both of them. However your ranking and marks seem good enough for any entrance exam.

So you can expect some good seat in some good college. But it is not possible to provide you exact information as of now due to the incomplete question.

Dear aspirant,

You haven't mentioned that to which Entrance Exam this AIR belong.
If you had attained this rank in AIEEE, then you will definitely get seat in NIT with your desired branch of engineering.

Also, if you had attained this rank in IIT-JEE, then also you may get seat in IITs but you may not get your desired branch. Because, for that you will have to bring rank below 500.
