First thing I would like know that UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission and it is a commission not an examination which conducts different examination for recruitment as Central Government employees in different fields.

But in common UPSC examination is used to refer Civil Services examination which is held once every year by UPSC for recruitment of administrative officers.

--> The minimum eligibility criteria required for appearing in the same examination are as here under :-

* You must have the nationality of India.

* Your age must lie within 21 years to 32 years by the 1st August of that year in which you are going to appear in the same examination in case you belong to general category. Further age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates.

* You must have completed your graduation degree course in any discipline from a recognized university.

As mentioned there is no compulsion of any subject in academics for one's eligibility for Civil Services examination and hence after completing B.Sc Applied Physics you will be eligible for appearing in the same examination on the educational requirement prospective.

For further details regarding the same examination you can log on to the link www.upsc.gov.in.
