Re: Is B.Sc General equivalent to B.Sc Agriculture?
No they are not equivalent because BSc in general is a degree in education whereas BSc in agriculture is degree in agriculture so they are specific. One who has completed BSc in agriculture cannot apply for the jobs of simple BSc where is one who has completed simple BSc cannot apply for the agriculture jobs. So try to understand the difference.

Re: Is B.Sc General equivalent to B.Sc Agriculture?
No, Bachelor's degree in Science with PCM is not equivalent to Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Both are different course. Wherever bachelor's degree in any discipline is required, both stream candidates can apply but exams in which B.Sc agriculture is required, B.Sc general candidates can not apply.
The only similarity between two courses is that they are bachelor's degree. Streams are totally different. |

Re: Is B.Sc General equivalent to B.Sc Agriculture?
No B.Sc ( general ) i.e; Bachelor of Science degree with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Biology or Physics cannot be considered equivalent to B.Sc in Agriculture degree and hence you cannot choose any course or jobs which requires Agriculture as a main subject specifically by holding B.Sc. degree in general science subjects.
As far as you are concerned about the options to be pursued if you have done B.Sc. in general science then you just not have to worry about the same every much as you have options available for you almost in each field whether it is administrative field, defense field, teaching field, banking field etc. except from few options which requires B.Sc in Agriculture degree specifically like the options of Agricultural officer, IFS. So as I have mentioned that there are enough options available for you even if you pursue your B.Sc in general science subject and so you can opt for any of the mentioned options as per your liking and strength. |

Re: Is B.Sc General equivalent to B.Sc Agriculture?
No, both the course is not equivalent and have different syllabus and opportunities.
But, the eligibility to get admission in course is same i.e, is candidate passed 12th from a recognised board with PCM are eligible to get admission. Candidates passed bachelor degree in Science are eligible to pursue Master degree in any one of the discipline ( Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics ). If you are interested in jobs in Agriculture sector as in Forest Department, Pharmacy, Drug Inspector then B.Sc Agriculture is needed instead of B.Sc General. |

Re: Is B.Sc General equivalent to B.Sc Agriculture?
B.Sc (general) and B.Sc agriculture are both Bachelor courses in different subjects. The subject of education as well as the career path for both the fields is different. You should take the course which you find interesting and would like to work in the future.
B.Sc in physics, chemistry or maths will get you job in research or teaching areas. While B.Sc in Agriculture will turn your career into agriculture area related to plants, crops and other field related to it. Both the fields can have same career in government exams like UPSC, IAS, IFS, IPS, etc. |

Re: Is B.Sc General equivalent to B.Sc Agriculture?
Hello friend,
Both the courses mentioned by you are nowhere similar to each other. They are different course and have different career option once you complete the course. For both the subjects, you have to make sure that you are 12th class pass with science as your main subject. B.Sc Agri - 1. It will make you eligible for jobs in the field or Agriculture, Farming, Agro Business, FMCG, Food and Biotechnology and research work in similar fields B.Sc General will make you eligible for Research and Doctorate in Science apart from Agriculture etc. Both of them are very different. Hope it will help |

Re: Is B.Sc General equivalent to B.Sc Agriculture?
In terms of value, both are graduation so both carry equal weight-age when the eligibility criteria for any exam is graduation from any university.
But in terms of specificity, both are different. B.Sc. General is simple B.Sc where B.Sc in Agriculture is very specific and is technical. Some examinations specifically require graduation in agriculture and that is where B.Sc agriculture comes into picture. Example being you cannot apply for Indian Forest Service if you are B.Sc general but you are eligible for Indian Forest Service if you have done B.Sc Agriculture |

Re: Is B.Sc General equivalent to B.Sc Agriculture?
B.Sc general is not exact equivalent of B.Sc Agriculture. It can be termed equivalent when any further education or job exam where "graduation from any specialisation" is specifically mentioned.
Wherever Graduate in Agriculture is needed, General B.Sc will be deemed invalid. |
