Which is better for a Civil engineer, M.Tech or M.Des? Which exam to attend in Bangalore to pursue any of the courses?


My younger brother is doing his BE civil final year...he missed to apply for gate exam due to some reasons. What shall he do now.. M.tech or M.des...which is best for him? What exams he can apply for? We are in tamilnadu..and am working in Banglore.. So he can study here also..plz help..
