One book is not sufficient for UGC-NET exam because it consists of 3 papers. Paper1 and Paper 2 are objective type and Paper3 is descriptive. So you have to study a lot of books. Paper1 will contain general awareness and paper 2 and paper3 contain technical.
For paper2 and paper3 you have to study the following subjects
1)operating system
2)dabase management system
3)software engineering
4)formal language autometa theory
5)data structures
6)c,c++
7)computer graphics
8)web technology
