No,a Commerce Student cannot join in Indian Air Force

The minimum qualification needed for joining in Indian Air Force is that the candidate must have completed +2 with physics and mathematics as subjects for joining in Indian Air Force

As you have done in Commerce stream you are not eligible for joining in IAF.If you satisfy the above mentioned criteria then you would have chances of writing the NDA Exam

This exam offers you to join in IAF and other defence forces who have completed their respected +2.

As per your qualification you can join in defence if at all you cannot join in IAF or Indian Navy you can join in Indian Army as having completed +2 in commerce stream.

If you are interested in doing that then you need to be a citizen of India and must be a unmarried male candidate as they are only eligible.

The age limit needed is that you need to have 16 1/2-19 years of age

The candidate should be physically fit as it is very important


If you satisfy them all then you are eligible for the NDA Exam

No you cannot apply for Indian Air Force with Commerce subject in your graduation.

To apply IAF you must have posses some eligibility criteria

You must be the citizen of India
You must have completed your 12th or graduation with PCM as core subjects
Your age should be between 16.5-19 years for NDA and 19-24 years for CDS conducted by UPSC twice a year
Your martial status should be single till the total training period is completed
You must be physically and mentally fit.

Eligibility To Join Air Force

Candidates can join the Indian Air Force through 2 exams depending on their age and qualification..

You can either appear for :-

>> NDA, or
>> CDS

NDA (National Defense Academy)

>> Candidates can appear if they are within the age limit of 16.5-19 years..as on 1st Jan or 1st July..

>> Candidates must also have completed their 12th from a recognized board

The NDA Exam is conducted every year in the months of April and August..

CDS (Combined Defense Services)

This exam is conducted every year in the months of February and September..

>> The candidate must be either a final year graduation student or must have already completed graduation from a recognized institute..

>> Candidate must be within the age limit of 19-23 years for Indian Air Force..

Sorry to say that a commerce student cannot join Indian Air Force.

The eligibility criteria required for Indian Air Force examination are prescribed as below:-

Its nice to see that you are interested in joining the Indian Air Force.

But unfortunately being a commerce student you are not eligible to join the Indian Air Force.

There are two ways through which a candidate can get entry in the Indian Air Force.

1) NDA Examination

2) CDS Examination

NDA Examination :

* This Examination is conducted twice in a year in the months of April & August by the Union Public Service Commission.

* For this exam , you must have passed 12th with PCM from any recognized board.

* Your age must be in the bracket of 16.5-19 years.

* You must be an Unmarried Indian Male.

* You must be physically and mentally fit.

CDS Examination :

* This Examination is also conducted by the Union Public Service Commission twice every year in the months of February and December.

* Age Limit for this exam is 18-24 years.

* Graduation with Mathematics as your one of the main subjects is required as the minimum educational qualification.

* You must be an Indian Citizen.

So , From the above mentioned , being a commerce student you do not fulfill the educational criteria.

Thus , you are ineligible for the same.

No dear you cannot join IAF having
commerce stream in your 12 class.
In order to join AIr force after 12 or after
graduation requires physics and
mathematics as main subject in class 12.
However, you can go for army after 12 only
on the basis of your education.
You need to appear for NDA exam organized
by UPSC twice in a year.
The age criteria for NDA is 16 1/2 years to
19 years.

No, a candidate from Commerce stream is not eligible to join Indian Air Force through NDA and CDS.

NDA/CDS - National Defence Academy/Combined Defence Service, the entrance exam conducted by UPSC twice every year - The eligible candidate aspiring for Indian Air Force must be an unmarried Indian Male having completed 12th for NDA and Graduation for CDS with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subject of studies within the age of 16.5 to 19 years for NDA and 19 to 23 years for CDS with good Physical and Mental health.

One of my senior officer who is from Indian Air Force (Ground Duty Branches) told me that student from any stream ( Commerce or arts ) can join Indian Air Force only Ground Duty Branches through NDA.

as per the details given in airforce site.. it is clearly mentioned that a commerce student can apply for ground duty branch... but while candidate login it wont allow... wat shall i do??
