To join as an junior engineer, the minimum academic qualification required is an engineering degree. As you have mentioned that you are in the second year of your BTech program, you will need to complete the program and qualify the final exam to be eligible for merchant navy. However, you can join as an deck cadet on the basis of your +2 qualification but being an engineering student, that too in mechanical, you must try for the engineering department of merchant navy.
Once you complete the program, you will have undergo a pre-sea course for a period of 1 year to be considered eligible for the post of junior engineer in merchant navy.

As you are final year student you have good percentage in your Graduation .
there is no need for 12 th Marks
you should have 60 % in your graduation.
there vacancy for technical post is affered you can apply for that , after completing exam you can get Job .
BUt as you are joining Navy service you must fit by health also.

yes you can straight way go and join the merchant navy after the completion of the final year of your engineering and apply for it in the colleges for merchant navy or you can check the news papers for the recruitment procedure that wont be a issue but being mediacally fit does matter hope you get selected and all the best . your salary will be well within 25k-40k. good luck .

Certainly you can, with B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering you can get direct entry to Merchant Navy.

You are eligible for direct entry for the post of Engine Cadet, Fifth Engineer or Junior Engineer.

You will have to go through a basci pre-sea training arranged by the company.

Engineering cadets can do 9 months long Pre-sea course from MERI.
