Re: Confused in MCA or Language Course. What's better for me?
Hi Shikha. Doing MCA is very different from doing just a short term language course. Doing just a language course may only help you to get limited jobs with limited growth opportunities in that language. Whereas MCA is a 3 year programme where you will learn many languages, technologies and so many other things about all aspects of Computer Science. Therefore naturally there will be much more options for your career.
For doing MCA, Jawahar Lal Nehru University is considered the best place. Most of the NITs and engineering institutes also offer MCA programmes. JNU has its own entrance exam, NITs conduct NIMCET for MCA Entrance whereas different institutes have either their own entrance exams or use scores of exams conducted by state universities for admission. Most of these exams are conducted in April-June period and notifications are available by March or later. |

Re: Confused in MCA or Language Course. What's better for me?
Hi Shikha,
I totally agree with 'The_Wisdom' that MCA and language courses are totally different. With MCA you are earning a Masters degree, which will definitely open up really good opportunities for you in future. Also, DU (Delhi University), BHU, Pune university, IIT Roorkee are some more good choices to opt for. But, since you are doing B.Com and also got an experience of an year in accounts, I would like to know that is there any specific reason to opt for MCA or language courses? Looking forward to hear from you. Cheers Kanika |

Re: Confused in MCA or Language Course. What's better for me?
Hi Shikha,
As per my knowledge, for universities like DU, BHU, Pune university and IIT, fee structure varies from 60,000 to 1,00,000 per year. You can try to obtain prospectus of these universities and gather more precise info. As far as regular vs distance learning is concerned, I would say with regular degree, you get an atmosphere to grow in much practical and professional way. Also, a regular degree carries much more importance. However, distance learning degree along with a good experience in the related field is also not a bad choice. If you want to concentrate on studies or interested in working+studying, should be a personal choice I feel. Do let us know if you have further queries. All the Best Kanika |

Re: Confused in MCA or Language Course. What's better for me?
@Shikha
Since the expenses for the course are also a consideration, I believe you will prefer to do MCA from your own city to avoid any living expenses. If you can tell us which place you belong to may be we can discuss regarding your query more specifically. I am sure there must be institutes which offer MCA at cheaper fees. |

Re: Confused in MCA or Language Course. What's better for me?
my suggestion is search for the best you can do because doing either mca or any languages can fetch you but see to the one where your interest lies and try to learn them best.

Re: Confused in MCA or Language Course. What's better for me?
I will advice you to go for MCA but first checkout the eligibility citeria for it.
There is different eligibility criteria for different type of entrance, some has made it mandatory that candidate should have opted for maths as one of its maon subject in +2,while some demands atleast 60% aggregate in your bachelor degree. There are many MCA entrance's for it like-JECA,IIT-JAM etc.and each have there own criterias. I am telling you all these because you belongs from commerce background. Best of luck |

Re: Confused in MCA or Language Course. What's better for me?
according to me you must opt for that in which you have more interest if you have in computers and have good knowledge then you must for for MCA or if you have a good command over language then you must go for Language courses.
best of luck |

Re: Confused in MCA or Language Course. What's better for me?
since you are already working as an accountant and bachelor in commerce, i would suggest you enroll in ICWA course of icwai which is a master's degree and can be completed in 3 years....it has much more demand and potential than a MCA degree...
for more information see the link below www.myicwai.com |

Re: Confused in MCA or Language Course. What's better for me?
Hi, myself Nitin
I have a question regarding the same. I am an undergraduate(3rd year B.C.A. student) and I am really interested in programming. I have joined an institute however for M.C.A. entrance coaching, but my problem is "Maths". I have done 3rd party languages specially Android Programming and I really look forward upon the same which actually does not requires much maths and physics and i have a lot of interest in this language especially maybe because of JAVA but i don't know if their is any specific course that pinpoints over languages and less of maths. Android Programming, not being the part of my course (B.C.A.) is still my only interest and i want to carry the same. Can I carry this interest of mine in M.C.A. or will it hamper the POST GRADUATION or should i just concentrate upon M.C.A. entrance. |

Re: Confused in MCA or Language Course. What's better for me?
Hi,
I am an Undergraduate(3rd Year B.C.A.) student and I have a question regarding the same topic. I have a very keen interest in language programming( especially Android Programming, which is not my course subject) and I want to carry the same so I thought to go for M.C.A where i thought I would get a really good atmosphere to code because of detailed JAVA and other languages. But there is a problem with me (Maths). I am not good at maths and I don't want to actually go for more which I guess is a lot in M.C.A. Hence it concludes to my question of- Should I go for M.C.A entrance seriously(as I have a joined a coaching institute) and get an admission Or should I concentrate upon my coding and is there a specific course that only pinpoints the same? |
