Hi

First of all I would say that all the post graduation courses are respected and so its really indeed very nice that you want to take up your post graduation and so particular about it. I would surely give you every information about it so that you have refer and guide yourself in the best direction.

M.Com stands for Masters in Commerce and whereas the MBA stands for the Masters in Business Administration. Both these courses are masters and are of 2 years duration. Since you are a B.Com honors, it might seem that M.Com is the best course for you, but according to me, I would suggest you to go for MBA.

I have a few but very valid reasons for recommending that. MBA is the course in demand right now, and it doesn't require you to be from any particular background in your graduation. Therefore even if you are from the B.Com stream, you would surely be able to take it up as your post graduation stream. It has the following branches from which you can opt according to your interest :

Finance, HR, International Business, Sales and Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business Process, Information Technology, Operations, etc and many other.

This would make you sufficient to come to good use to any company, and also it would increase your value in the market. Also the salary stack which the MBA post graduates receives are much much higher than the pay stack of the M.Com candidates. To name a few, the companies visiting the IIM's offer pay packages of more than 14 lacs p.a for the candidates!!

On the other hand, talking about the M.Com course, its really not much hear about and so not much in demand. There are very few M.Com colleges and also the course might seem attractive, but actually MBA would be a much better choice for you to go with, than M.Com.

Still to explain a bit on this course, it would carry forward your studies of what you had studied in your B.Com and enrich your skills with some market exposure depending on which college are you taking up for the same. Also as you mentioned about the aggregate, I must inform you that not all MBA and M.Com colleges would accept your Correspondence course, and even if some colleges do, they as for a minimum 60% aggregate in your graduation. So I would also request you to keep a check on the same.

Hope this helps
All the best
Regards
RANJEET

Soon after the completion of B.Com course in Correspondence, you are eligible to join both the courses like
M.Com
MBA

The duration of both these courses is 2 years and you need to give an Entrance Exam in order to join any of these courses.

For M.Com course, each and every university will conduct its own Entrance Exam in order to give admission.

But for MBA course, popular Entrance Exams are
CAT
MAT
GMAT etc.

In addition, there are some state level Entrance Exams for the candidates to get admission for MBA course in and around various colleges of that state.

As per your query,

I suggest you to opt for MBA course than M.Com course to have better job opportunities.

Many of the companies will release notifications regularly for the recruitment of MBA candidates and not for M.Com candidates.

There are plenty of job opportunities in variety of business sectors for MBA candidates as each and every business need MBA candidates in order to manage several business aspects.

There is a more scope for you to enhance your managerial skills and to attain life skills through MBA course.

Wish you all the best.
