Concave mirror diverges the beam of light incident on it hence it is called diverging mirror while convex mirror converges the beam of light incident on it hence it is called converging mirror Shapes -Concave mirror is curved inwards. -Convex mirror is curved outwards. Focal Point It is the point where the beam of ray intersects after reflection or tend to intersect. It is located on the principal axis. -The focal point of concave mirror is in front of the mirror. -The focal point of convex mirror is behind the mirror Image -In convex mirror the image is always virtual, upright and smaller than the object -In case of concave mirror different types of images are formed on different location of the object. The image is upside down (inverted) and far away but if we bring the object close to the mirror then image will be larger and upright. Uses Convex mirrors are used in cars (as passenger-side mirror since they provide upright and wide view), they are also used in camera phones, for safety measures there are also used in roads and driveways Besides these convex mirrors are found in many hospitals, schools etc. as hallway safety mirror. Concave mirrors are used in telescope. These are also used as make up and shaving mirrors since these provide larger images. besides these concave mirrors are used by dentists and also used in headlights of cars, solar devices, satellite dishes etc. |

Re: Difference between concave mirror and convex mirror?
Hi dear.....................
The difference between Concave & Convex mirror are as follows.......... Normally convex mirror is used in bikes mirror to see far things nearer . & Concave mirror are normal mirror which are normally used for make up , for house purpose. Good luck............. |

Difference between concave mirror and convex mirror :
The reflecting surface of the concave mirror's bulged inwards but the reflecting surface of the convex mirror is bulged outwards Concave mirror produces real & inverted images but convex mirror always produces virtual & erect images |

hello!! this image clearly shows the difference b/w concave and convex mirrors. Concave mirror-----causes light rays to converge that is meet at a point after converging. conacve mirror is curved inwards reason of converging for concave mirrors- since here where ever the object is placed the image either seen on right or left of mirror goes to converge or we see it converging. convex mirror-----causes causes light rays to diverge that means spread apart and hence also known as diverging mirror. reason of diverging nature for convex mirrorsconvex mirror is curved outwards since here where ever the object is placed the image either seen on right or left of mirror goes to diverge or we see it diverging. let me tell you the difference diagrammatically.so, see the images below .these will help you surely Diagrammatically differentiation b/w concave and convex Concave mirror If the object is placed in front of convex mirror C andF represent the center of curvature and the focal point of the convex Ray diagram --concave mirror 1. Draw ray from top of object to the curve The procedure here will follow the two Light Ray Diagram image showing all possible intersections of curved surfaces-concave and convex mirrors image showing all possible intersection points for concave and convex mirror hope this helped............. if you have any doubt feel free to ask any query in our forum with regards roknits |

Re: Difference between concave mirror and convex mirror?
Dear friend,
Concave and convex mirrors are basically mirrors that are bent. It's sort of like if you were to take a mirror that's shaped like a ball, and cut off one side of it. With a concave mirror, it's like you're looking at the mirror from what would be the inside of the ball, so it looks like the mirror is curving in towards you. But with a convex mirror, it's like you're looking at the mirror from what would be the outside of the ball, so it curves away from you Thanks. |

Re: Difference between concave mirror and convex mirror?
Hello Friend........
Difference between Concave and Convex Mirrors : - Concave and convex mirrors have a variety of uses, from microscopes to telescopes and from cars to security systems; however, each mirror has very distinct characteristics and differences. Bend Concave mirrors bend inward, while the curvature of a convex mirror is outward. Concave Images Concave mirrors reflect images upside down when viewed from afar. They also cause images to become larger when viewed from close up. Activity Diagram Design workflow of the System Download Free Tutorials & Tool! visual-paradigm.com/Activity Convex Images Images reflected on convex mirrors appear smaller than they really are--which can be seen in the majority of automobiles. As opposed to concave mirrors, they offer a smaller and wider view. Concave Uses Common examples of concave mirrors include common make-up mirrors used by women, as well as within car headlights to reflect the sun's light rays. The base of all microscopes also use concave mirrors. Convex Uses Security mirrors in establishments and stores are common examples of convex mirrors. Examples may also include rear-view mirrors and mirrors placed at stops on the roads for motorists' safety. |

Re: Difference between concave mirror and convex mirror?
hi friend, Concave Mirror: => Concave mirror has inward curve and outer surface is bluges with some dark colour. => It produses images real and differnt sizes acoording to objects distance. => It's image can Catch on Screen. => simple example A mirror which Use for Shaving. Convex Mirror: => convex mirror has a outward curve surface and inner surface are Bluges with dark paint. => produces Imagenary reflacation and Larger Image then Objects. => It'a Image can not catch on screen because it's totally Imagenary => like in Vehicals side side view mirror. I hope doubt is clear now. |

Re: Difference between concave mirror and convex mirror?
Dear Aspirant,
I will tell you the easy way to know about the concave and convex convex: A convex polygon has all its vertices, or corners, pointing out from the center concave a concave polygon looks like it has been 'caved in.' i hope this information helps you to find the difference between concave and convex. Thank you. |

Re: Difference between concave mirror and convex mirror?
The convex mirror is used in car because convex mirror produces virtual and erect image and has a wider field of view whereas, concave mirror produces real and inverted image which makes difficult for the driver to see. Also concave mirror produces enlarged image. So convex mirror is used as rear view mirror.
