Re: Duration of B.Ed course?
hi,
B Ed & D Ed Course Duration Doubled New Delhi: Aspiring teachers will have to devote one year extra, as the duration of Bachelor of Education (B Ed) and Diploma in Education (D Ed) programme is doubled. The step is taken in order to make teachers more professional. It is supposed that professional preparation involves extended and intense training and the existing period is not sufficient. As per sources, the change would be made in the new curriculum framework, which the National Council of Teacher Training (NCTE) would bring out in February. However, it would take at least four years for all institutions to implement the new formula. Mohammad Akhtar Siddiqui, Chairperson of National Council of Teacher Training (NCTE), said that according to the council, professional preparation requires prolonged and intense training and the current duration of one (for B Ed) and two years (for D Ed) is not enough. He also added that they understand that changing over to a new format takes time. However, they want all the institutions to compulsorily adopt this in the next four to five years, failing to which they might face de-recognition. Moreover, the intensive training would help teachers cope up with the added pressure that comes with the new Right To Education Bill and continuous comprehensive evaluation in classrooms, which requires continuous evaluation of students throughout the year. |

Re: Duration of B.Ed course?
The duration of B.ed is a I year programme but as you know that abt 1 or 2 months is for holidays & some days are for teaching practice(practical exam). So it means the exact period for study is about 9 to 10 months.
But there is also a 2 years programme for the in-service teachers only & that is to be done from the distance learning mode. |
