The minimum education required for appearing in UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) held by NTA is a Master's degree ( in paper concerned for teaching) with at least 55% marks from a recognised university. Marks relaxation upto 5% is allowed for candidates belonging to reserved category.

So, having completed your Master's degree course i.e; Post graduation with 53% marks and belonging to general category, you are not eligible to apply for UGC NET.

For more details regarding the same examination, you can visit its official link www.ntanet.nic.in.

Candidates must have secured 55% average marks in Post Graduation to appear in UGC NET.
But you have not gotten 55% marks in Post Graduation.
So you are not eligible for UGC NET in English literature.

Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
