Each Engineering stream has got it's own importance but Government jobs are restricted to some streams. Some of the streams which has got more importance in Government streams are:-
Mechanical,Electrical and Electronics,Electronics and Tele-communication.

These three streams are very important for the Public sector companies because each company needs Mechanical Engineer's to have an idea about the machine's performance, construction and various other factors.Electrical Engineer's are useful because with out electricity the machine's doesn't work. Many of the companies meet their own requirements by constructing a small scale power plant.Electronics Engineer's are useful because most of the mechanical and electrical devices use control systems and electronic devices like thyristors to make the machine perform in a better manner.

Usually Mechanical Engineer's are recruited in larger number when compared to Electrical and Electronics and tele communication. For details regarding PSU's you can visit the following link
http://www.india.gov.in/citizen/PSU.php

There are various streams in Government sector like PSC,UPSC which recruit Engineers but mostly PSU's recruit Engineer's.

generally engineering stream has very less oppurunity in govt job.
eventhough the engineering jobs are available in Defence, Department Of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration, etc.

the best streams are mechanical, electronics, computer eng., .........
if you are looking for a job after 5 year environmental engineering, civil engineering has also scope..................

Hi,

For your information all Engineering stream have government job in their field.some field have more government jobs or some have less government gob.

If you want to go in government job you have to join Mechnical or Civil stream.these branches have highest government job apportunity.

Todays these branches are most preffered by the student.career apportunity are good in these branches.

There are more jobs apportunity in private sector.pricate sector provide more money then government jobs.students prefer private jojs then government jobs.

you can join private job for good money.

Engineering is such a carrier most of the student in india wants to persuie.india is changing form a devloping country status.so, here is big oppurtunity for the engineers.stream like CIVIL is most required but MECHANICAL has also good chance for water irigation department.without electricity one can not live good life so ELECTRICAL is also important.TELECOMMUNICATION is important.ELECTRONICS is new field so it has also good need in india ,INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY is also good because this branch help the share of informaton from government to public.now a days most of the government application is online so COMPUTERSCIENCE has good chance.india has deficiency of quality water, so CHEMICAL is also required. Apart from that you may get job in diffrent government orgnisation in equall basis for each branch of engineering, like RAILWAY,BHABHA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE ,DEFENCE RESEARCH DEVLOPE MENT ORGNISATION,INDIAN SPACE RESEARCH ORGNISATION,IINDIAN ARMY,INDIAN AIR FORCE ,INDIAN NAVY,INDIAN COAST GUARD etc.

The three core streams like Electrical(EE), Mechanical(ME), and Civil(CE) has the most scope of getting placement in Government companies.

Because there is an constant need of electrical and mechanical engineers in the public sectors....that's why the chances of getting these engineering stream placed in the govt. sector is also high...

The other streams which also gets placed in Government sectors are:
Electronics and communication(ECE),
Electrical and Electronics(EEE),
Thermal engineering,
Marine engineering,
Mining Engineering,
etc....
