Is entrance exam necessary to study BTech in India for NIOS 12th PCM student of UAE?

Hello, my son is going to complete his 12th with PCM stream from NIOS in UAE. He wants to get BTech admission in India. I want to know that does he need to give the entrance exam for such admission? I am really in a dilemma. Please help me.
