i want to write gate2011,how can i prepared,plz tell me complete syallabus of gate 2011

First have you applied for it ? last date for online application is 27th Oct 2010.
For syllabus go through any iit site.(eg:http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in/gate2011/syllabi.php).
For preparation first study just fundamentals of your course and all the syllabus.then complete previous papers.try to write as many exams as possible( take them seriously) as you need experience and exam feel.if you are electronics student i'l tell you how to prepare each subject also.

the question paper is of objective type &negative marking will be there .so try to prepare yourself confidently so that chances of mistakes will be minimum.you have not mentioned the subject for which you are asking the syllabus.

you didn't mention your stream, so i can't send you the syllabus of GATE for you.

But i would like to suggest to some points which help you to take preparation for GATE.
1. Always clear the basics of your core subjects.
2. try to solve the previous paper of GATE.
3.Always take reference from other books like G.K.Publishers etc.
4. No doubt reading is essential but evaluating your self is also very necessary, so you should join any test series which will help you to evaluate your preparation for GATE.

GATE Examination Structure :

* A candidate can apply for only ONE of the 21 papers listed in the table given below. In the tables given below, the columns titled 'Paper Title' and 'Section Title' provide links to the appropriate syllabus.
* The choice of the appropriate paper is the responsibility of the candidate. Some guidelines in this respect are suggested below.
* The candidate is expected to appear in a paper appropriate to the discipline of his/her qualifying degree. The candidate is, however, free to choose any paper according to his/her admission plan, keeping in mind the eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he/she wishes to seek admission.
* The GATE examination consists of a single paper of 3 hours duration which contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper will consist of only objective questions. In all papers other than AE and TF, all the questions are of multiple choice type. In AE and TF papers, the question paper will consist of 60 questions of multiple choice type and 5 questions of numerical answer type. For multiple choice type questions, each question will have four choices for the answer. For numerical answer type questions, each question will have a number as the answer. The examination for the papers with codes AE, GG, MN and TF will be carried out ONLINE using computers where the candidates will be required to enter the answer for each question using keyboard/mouse. For all other papers, the candidates will have to mark the correct choice on an Optical Response Sheet (ORS) by darkening the appropriate bubble against each question. There will be negative marking for each wrong answer, except for the numerical answer type questions.

Qustion Paper Pattern :

Pattern for Papers: AG, AR, BT, CE, CH, CS, CY, EC, EE, IN, MA, ME, MN, MT, PH and PI

There will be a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks.

* Q.1 to Q.25 (25 questions) carry one mark each (sub-total 25 marks). Q.26 to Q.55 (30 questions) carry two marks each (sub-total 60 marks). Questions Q.56 - Q.65 belong to General Aptitude (GA). Questions Q.56 - Q.60 (5 questions) carry 1 mark each (sub-total 5 marks) and questions Q.61 - Q.65 (5 questions) carry 2-marks each (sub-total 10 marks).
* Questions Q.48 - Q.51 (2 pairs) are common data questions. and Qquestion pairs (Q.52, Q.53) and (Q.54, Q.55) are linked answer questions. The answer to the second question of the linked answer questions depends on the answer to the first question of the pair. If the first question in the linked pair is wrongly answered or is unattempted, then the answer to the second question in the pair will not be evaluated.
* NEGATIVE MARKING:For Q.1 - Q.25 and Q.56 - Q.60, 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. For Q.26 - Q.51 and Q.61 - Q.65, 2/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The question pairs (Q.52, Q.53), and (Q.54, Q.55) are questions with linked answers. There will be negative marks only for wrong answer to the first question of the linked answer question pair i.e. for Q.52 and Q.54, 2/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. There is no negative marking for Q.53 and Q.55.
* Questions on Engineering Mathematics will carry about 15% of the total marks (excluding General Aptitude section) in all the papers bearing the codes AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT and PI.

The application form for GATE exam is already available. There are various institutes that offer coaching for GATE. You haven’t mentioned your subject, so we cannot help you regarding the syllabus. But details of this are available on http://gate.iitm.ac.in/gate2011/syllabi.php.

GATE is a tough paper so you have to do a lot of hard work for clearing it. Join some institute for it's preparation. Go through previous year papers and practice as much as you can.

Dear chandu,

I strongly recommend you to join a good Institute for the preparation of GATE. The syllabus of GATE is so vast that no student can prepare it on his own in the current time available. So, the wisest decision would be to join a good institute for the same.

Secondly, i would suggest you to buy the books of upkar prakashan OR Pearson Education for GATE preparation.
