The GATE Textile Engineering and fiber science Paper is a 100 mark paper to be answered in the given time of 3 hours. There are a total of 60 questions in the paper. All questions are compulsory and from the syllabus itself. Questions one to twenty carry one mark each and the other 40 questions carry two marks each. There are four options given for each question. There is negative marking on the paper. Each incorrect answer from the first twenty questions causes the student to lose half mark and for each incorrect answer from question 21 to 60 the student loses two third of marks.

Every question left unanswered carries zero marks. There is rough sheet given at the end of the question paper for any additional work. The student needs to practice a lot at the preparation stage to be able to think, calculate and analyze fast.  This paper is a speed and accuracy test. All the instructions have to be followed to the letter. The answers have to be marked only in the separate answer sheet given by the supervisor. Keep the answer sheet as neat as possible as assessment is computerized.
