National Institutes of Technology (NIT)

Admission to Bachelors degrees in the NITs are done through a merit list published after the result of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination. Applicants are also required to have at a minimum, a pass grade in the class 12 exam or equivalent.

Each NIT takes 50 percent of students from the state in which it is located and 50 percent from the rest of India. They also implement an affirmative action policy called reservation for the OBC at 27%, SC at 15% and ST at 7.5%.
