As per the guidelines of the Bar Council of India, universities are not allowed to offer LLB program through distance mode. As a result of which, any open universities including Indira Gandhi National Open University do not offer LLB Program. However, there are various other programs in Law which can be pursued through distance mode from many universities including INdira Gandhi National Open University.

Indira Gandhi National Open University offers the following programs in Law:

• Certificate in Anti Human Trafficking

dear sir ,i want to do corrospondence course in llb.But i have heard that universities are not allowed to offer llb through corrospondence.Ialso want to know is there any age limit for llb. My friend there is no point of applying for LLB from IGNOU. This is for the simple reason that LLB course is not offered through distance education. The law course offered through distance education is not same as LLB and neither it is recognized.

As per the ruling of Bar Council of India, LLB course can not be offered through correspondence. The Bar Council of India only recongize two law degree for undergraduate course that are BA LLB and LLB.

Any other degree is not recognized therefore even after completing law course through distance education, you will not become a lawyer. According to the guidelines of the Bar Council of India, such candidates are not allowed to practice in the court as lawyer.

So if you really want to become lawyer, then apply for the LLB course through regular mode. These days the number of colleges offering LLB is shrinking. Most colleges have started offering integrated LLB course like BA LLB.

But since you have completed graduation you should only apply for the LLB course. Below is the eligibility criteria.


Eligibility

1. Must have bachelor degree in any discipline.

2. At least 45 percent marks in graduation.

3. SC/ST need to obtain 40 percent marks.

4. The maximum age limit is 30 years for the course.

5. There is 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit for SC/ST.
