if you are wishing to join CID then for Applying CID you have Crack the Entrance exam of Civil Service Exam which is conducted by UPSC every Year.

Qualification for CID:

=> A candidate Should have completed their Graduation in Any Stream with at least 55% from Recognize Universities.

=> Age Limit should Not exist 25 years for General Category. there is a relaxation is available for SC/ST category up to upper Age + 5 years.

Selection Process:



=> Written Test
=> Interview
=> Physical Fitness test

ELIGIBLITY for CID and CBI is:

To join CBI you need to appear for CGPE exam i.e. Combined Graduate preliminary Exam which is conducted by SSC board every year.
Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for CBI exam.(Criminology)


But your age should be in between 20 to 27 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be in citizen in India.

The selection process is contain in two stage

In first stage written test:-

1)General question ---------- 200marks
2)English -------------------200 marks

In second stage you can faced an interview which is contain 100 marks.

a. Part I - Written Examination carrying: 400 marks
i. General Test
ii. General Intelligence and Reasoning
iii. General Awareness
iv. Numerical Ability

b. Part II - Personality Test (Interview): 100 marks.
i. English Language
ii. Language Comprehension
iii. Communication / Writing
iv. Ability Test

For getting into CID, you have to crack the Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.

Now, there are mainly two posts in CID you can apply for :-

Constable Post :-

You should complete your +2 and should not have age more than 25 years.

Officer Post :-

You should complete your Graduation from any recognised board or University and minimum age is 21 years and maximum age limit is 30 years.

Relaxation given to SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Government norms.

No such cut off percentage is required.

Selection Procedure:-

You have to appear for a Qualifying exam as mentioned above, followed by a Physical test and Interview.

Exam pattern:-

In first stage written test is there as mentioned above :-

>>General question -200marks
>>English-200 marks


In second stage you have to give an interview which contains 100 marks.

CID i.e Criminal Investigation Department and this is a crime detection agency under the
govt of India and there are other posts like;..Finger Print Bureau and the Crime Investigation
Bureau in scientific section.
>>Required Requirements :-
if you want become a CID officer the you must write and qualifying the indian civil services exams
conducted by the union public service commission.
The union public service commission is conducted the entrance exams in every year for various posts
under civil services exams.
For CID Officer posts the required educational qualifications are you must completed the graduation
with from recognized university.
>>Selection Processor :-
For this exam the selection processor is based on the written test and personal interview and some
posts required to qualify the physical effective tests.
Apart from first conducted the written test called for final section test i.e the personal interview
and for written test question paper will be objective type.
For these officers must have certain basic skills and excellent communication skills and pleasing manner
and also have knowledge on current happenings in the society.

Eligibility criteria required to be CID/CBI :-

>> You should have a Bachelor degree of any stream.

>> Candidate must have attained the age of 20 years on 1st July of the year of examination and must not have attained 27 years of age on that date

>> Upper age limit relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates

*Physical Requirements:-

>> Height

For men -165cms.

For women -150cms

Height relax able for Hillsmen and Tribals: 5cms

>> Chest

76cms. with expansion

>> Eye-Sight (with or without glasses)

Distant Vision :6/6 in one and 6/9 in other eye.

NearVision:0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye.

You need to complete your graduation degree from a recognized university to give exams for CID.......

You will need appear to SSC or UPSC exams..........
