To become an Air Force Officer, one has to crack NDA entrance exam after 12th.

NDA - National Defence Academy, the exam for which is conducted by UPSC twice every year to join Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wing of NDA.

To be eligible to join Indian Air Force wing of NDA, one must be an unmarried Indian male candidate having either appear for the final 12th exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subject of studies from a recognised Board within the age of 16.5 to 19 years with good Physical and Mental health.

The selection is through written exam followed by personal interview along with Physical Fitness and Medical Test.

Dear,

The most necessary thing that you need to become an air force officer is to have a bachelor's degree. You can do your graduation in any stream as per your choice.

There are following branches in air force:
(a) Flying Branch
Fighters
Transports
Helicopters

(b) Technical Branch
Mechanical
Electronics

(c)Ground Duty Branch
Administration
Accounts
Logistics
Education
Meteorology

It will depend on your qualification the branch you want to join. Flying branch you can join after 12th, Technical branch is for mechanical and electrical engineering students and Ground duty branch is for other graduates.

After 12th you can apply for NDA exam.Candidates, short-listed for Indian Air Force after NDA exam and SSB will go through 3 year training followed by specialised training. Then they are Commissioned as Permanent Commission Officers and posted as pilots at any of the Air Force Stations. But for this you need to have physics and maths as you subjects in 12th.

Best of luck!

If you are studying 10+2 with physics, chemistry and biology then you will be eligible only for Indian Army through NDA exam.

For Air force and Navy you must be 10+2 passed with physics and mathematics.
As you are not having maths hence you are only eligible for Indian Army.

Your age must be between 16.5 to 19 years if you want to apply for NDA exam. You must be a unmarried male and a Indian citizen also for NDA exam.

NDA is conducted by UPSC hence you can apply for NDA exam through UPSC website http://upsconline.nic.in

This exam is conducted twice in a year and notifications come in the month of May/June and November/December.

The selection is purely based on the objective type paper and SSB interview and will be followed by medical examination if you are in the merit list.
