Candidate seeking for Diploma in Mechanical Engineering [DME], program through distance mode, may opt for Indira Gandhi National Open University[IGNOU]. The University is well recognized all over the country. In order to pursue the program from IGNOU,candidate must have passed the 10th standard with:
55% marks or,
ITI certificate or,
Certificate in Motorcycle Service and Repair [CMSR] of IGNOU or,
12th pass with Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

Beside this one must be employed in government or private manufacturing Industry or other related organisations or self-employed.

The minimum duration of the program is 3 years whereas it can extend up to 5 years. The cost of the program is Rs. 42,000.
