Re: How to get a job as a forensic scientist? Eligibility for forensic scientist?
Forensic Science plays a very important role in today's judicial system. From DNA test to fingerprint matching, forensic science has helped the Police Force crack some of the toughest cases with not much of the clue.
Indian television shows like CID have glorified the job of forensic experts in India. The job of forensic expert is to collect material from the crime scene, take ot back to the laboratory, check it and find all the clues possible that could lead to some solid evidence that can be present in the court. Eligibility Forensic Science is basically the field that suits medical students the most. There are two ways to become forensic expert. Firstly you can do MD in Forensic Science after MBBS. Secondly you can to course in criminology and become a Forensic expert. Education Criteria For the first way you need to pass 12th in Science stream. You will have to crack the Medical entrance exam and pass the MBBS course. Following which couple the MD course in Forensic Medicine and you will become a forensic pathologist. Alternatively after passing 12th you can complete a graduation course in Arts or Science. Then you can opt for Post Graduation course in Criminology. There is one other way in which you will have to complete Bachelor's degree in Forensic or Physical or Biological Science followed by M.Sc in Forensic Science. Jobs Most of the jobs in this field are offered in government sector. You may be hired by government investigating agencies like CBI, NIA and IB. While at CBI you would help the agency crack some of the high profile cases or the ones which police failed to do so. Working with NIA and IB means that you would show your talent in cases of terror attacks in Indian cities. You may also apply for job in foreign countries like United States and England. The Scotland Yard in UK hires forensic experts while in United States, FBI has several crime laboratories that need forensic experts. |
