I want to join merchant navy. I have done 10th in 75% marks and now i am appeared in +2 science. I love merchant navy and i want to join merchant navy today, tomorrow or now. please tell me the procedure and i will follow that.

I can understand your excitement to join Merchant Navy. It is one of the most preferred career choice in India. The idea of traveling across the world through sea is quite attractive to youth who are lured into joining Merchant Navy.


Since you are science stream student, it is possible for you to join Merchant Navy. The question would be when should you join it?


You can join Merchant Navy directly after completing 12th. Alternatively you can pursue B.Sc Nautical Science or Marine Engineering and then apply for the job merchant navy. The difference here is that after 12th you can apply for deck cadet job. While after completing graduation courses mentioned above, you can apply for officer level jobs.


The well paid jobs in merchant navy with added perks are the officer level jobs. There isn't much scope of promotion if joined merchant navy after completing 12th. This is the decision which you will have to take. Below I have mentioned all the details to join merchant navy.



Eligibility

For Officer Level Jobs:

1. You must complete 12th with PCM as the subjects.

2. Apply for B.Sc in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering.

3. Only unmarried male and female candidates can apply in merchant navy.

4. You will have to clear a medical test and must meet certain physical requirements including 6/6 vision with no color blindness.

5. To join Marine engineering you will have to appear for ISEET entrance exam after completing 12th. The percentage requirement to appear for the exam is 40 percent.



Direct Entry

1. You can apply for deck cadet job after completing 12th with PCM as the subjects.

2. You will have to go through 3 months long pre-sea training for deck cadet job.

3. Instead of Marine Engineering you can also pursue B.Tech in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology and apply for job in merchant navy.

4. You will be able to apply for jobs such as Engine Cadet/ Fifth Engineer/ Junior Engineer.

5. B.Tech graduates must have to undergo through 9 months long Pre-sea course in Marine Engineering .

You can Join Merchant Navy through the Following procedure :

* First of all you try to pass 12th with a minimum of 60% marks.


* You must pass 12th with Physics,Chemistry and Maths as your main subjects.

* After passing 12th , you have to crack the ISEET Entrance exam to get admission in B.Tech in Marine Engineering.

* You can also go for B.Sc in Nautical Science to achieve your dream.

eligibilty:
1. 40 % marks in 10th class 40 % or more in english.
2. age between 18-25years

every year there is a CET conducted by Seafarer trust for the GP rating course.
in the month of march and oct the courses start from 1st of july and 1st januray

Merchant Navy is a great career option after 12th, it is perfect for those who love travelling, adventure, interested in seeing new places and meeting new people. In this profession you will travel around the world and that too free of cost. The question pattern for the All India Merchant Navy Entrance Test or AIMNET is on the pattern of JRF. You can also appear in the Indian Maritime University CET test meant for the same stream.
There are many courses to opt from in context to Merchant Navy. There is 3 years B.Sc. in Nautical Science. Candidates need to be 10+2 with minimum 60 per cent and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. Age limit should be between 17 to 25 years. There is also 2 years Higher National Diploma (HND) in Nautical Science. Candidates should be 10+2 PCM and age limit for the course is 25 years. The one year Diploma course in Nautical Science require candidates who have passed class 12 with minimum 55 per cent and with Physics, chemistry and maths.
