Hello,
Generally, candidates for RAW (research in analytical wing) are chosen from CBI officers/agents, or from police department. After have some experience in investigation or as a police officer there are observation by selection committe for educational qualification, and after that the officers/candidates are assigned for work with RAW. So first you have to opt either investigation department or police department. UPSC conducts exam for both CBI and IPS (police department).for more information(exam) you can visit official site of UPSC-www.upsc.gov.in

RAW : Research and Analysis Wing

this is a Intelligence service of Indian Services there are two types of work done by these officers that are one is tactical intelligence which is done on daily basis, Other is Strategical intelligence which provides govt for the future plans and helps in securing govt.

Getting into these services is not that simple you need to clear an entrance exam called as SSC (Staff Selection committee ) this exam is conducted by UPSC

The officers from CBI are shifted to RAW and the officers from RAW are transferred with CBI in this way there will be always mutual co operation between Police,Central and Other intelligence service departments

Yes after completing your engineering you are perfectly eligible for entering to RAW
