i have given my iit jee paper today and i have calculated my marks to be 250..what rank can i expect???

Every year IIT-JEE presents some surprise so it is very difficult to guess exact ranks
or even close figures.
According to IIT-JEE notice the overall cut off

for GEN category candidates
will be 35% marks (i.e. 143 marks out of 372 marks) and the subject wise cut off
will be 10% marks (i.e. 14 marks out of 136 marks).

for OBC category candidates
will be 31.5% marks (i.e. 129 marks out of 372 marks) and the subject wise cut off
will be 9% marks (i.e. 13 marks out of 136 marks).

for SC/ST/PD category candidates
will be 17.5% marks (i.e. 72 marks out of 372 marks) and the subject wise cut off
will be 5% marks (i.e. 7 marks out of 136 marks).

As you mentioned, you have calculated your aggregate marks 250 so you
have obviously cleared the aggregate cut off. You should check the subject wise marks also.

Till last year JEE used to decide cut off marks after evaluation of answer sheets but
this year cut off marks are decided earlier and answer sheets will be evaluated later
so it has been very much complicated to project all india ranks.

The projection for expected IIT-JEE 2012 rank donw by different institutes/agencies are
widely varrying.

Your All India Rank could be anything between 1500 to 3500.

First of all,i would like to congratulate you as you are soon going to be an iitian.last year,cutoff was 229 and i know iit cutoff has never decreased but i am sure that this time cutoff will be around 200.so you will have a rank of around 4000-5000.be sure of your selection but prepare seriously for aieee.GOOD LUCK.

how much rank can i expect after scoring 360 marks in iitjee 2012

Last year, the cut-off marks was 220.This year it is going to be decreased.
but the marks in each subject should be greater then subject wise cut-off,if you are getting 250 marks from 2 subjects and very less marks in 3rd subject then you are not selected.
but if you clear cut-off of each subject and hope to get 250 marks then it is clear that you have cleared it and your rank should be under 5000-6000.
Don't completely depend on this . it is just expecting rank.
may be your rank is totally different from expected rank

if i get 72 marks in iit jee 2012 in sc catagory can i expect seat in iits?

cutoff will be 175 maximum. expect a rank of 1001-1800.

i think this year cut off will be around 160 as the level of the exam was difficult compared to last year moreover max marks for the exam have been decreased to 408 from 480 .

a person getting 250 marks is going to get a rank between 1200 to 1800

and a person with 360 is in under 30 in air category general
