to get seat in aeronautical engineering in iit college, you will have to get all india rank below 500. aeronautical engineering from the iit is the best stream for an engineer. so a lot of competition is there for it.
after getting rank above 9000, you will get the seats which were not filled earlier. so at that rank, you will not get stream of your choice. only counselling will tell you that which stream and college you are getting.
and bits pilani is the best among others because it is having the best placements and faculties.

Hello......I don't really think that aerospace engineering is in too much demand.my friend is in IIT Guwahati.he had a rank of 7000 but still he was offered aerospace engineering which he declined.
Problem is that this field is not very vast and the scope is not as much as in ECE or mechanical.you only expect hindustan aeronautics limited to hire you.
If you get a rank of below 9000 then you won't get a branch of your choice may be.you may get IIT POWAI,IIT GUWAHATI,IIT BANGLORE,IIT PATNA.IIT HYDERABAD which have stilll not evolved upto the status of other IITs and have mentor IITs.

Still you can get into newer IIT's

In order to study aerospace engineering in iit , your rank must lie within 500

with rank above 9000 you can get admission in iit but only few branches will only be available

among vit, manipal nd bits
bits is best followed by vit and manipal

it's better to join in bits than vit and better join in vit than manipal ........it's better to join in bits if u get a good branch in pilani otherwise opt vit.and as for 9000 rank in iit
u wont get anywhere unless u write arch exam on june 10..but btech better than arch

First of all, you need to appear in the AIEEE.

The dates for AIEEE have been announced. It is being conducted offline on 29thApril 2012. While the online mode will go on from 7-25th May, 2012.

The notifications for sale of information brochures are not public at this moment.

However a centre list for online mode has been made.

I have attached the most recent circular from CBSE regarding the same.


Then, if you qualify in the exam, you will be required to fill up a trade choice form, and based on your rank and other factors, you may or may not get that seat.

Dear IIT-JEE aspirant,

IIT-JEE is an engineering Entrance Exam conducted jointly by IITs every year.
For Aerospace Engineering, you can get admission in any of the IITs.
But for that you will have to crack IIT-JEE exam with good rank.
If you rank is below 500, you can get your desired college in which you want to study for your UG Degree of Aerospace Engineering.

Hi friend

IITs are the best and most prestigious engineering colleges in India. The competition is very stiff these days with more and more students opting for engineering. Nearly 5 lakh students appear for the IIT entrance(IIT-JEE) and only 4000 students get a seat in these colleges.

Computer science is the most wanted field by the toppers. And amongst all the IITs the toppers prefer IIT Powai(bombay) and Delhi.

For a seat in IIT-Bombay, one needs a rank(AIR) under 80 in general category.
The cut off for kharagpur is relatively lower and will be around AIR 350.
An AIR of under 500 will be enough for a seat in IIT Guhwati.
