Re: How should I get a job in Railways? Is GATE preparation sufficient for IES?
As you have queried regarding GATE and Railway jobs I assume your qualification to be
equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Railway Recruitment Boards conduct their own examination for recruitment of graduate engineers from time to time, depending upon vacancies and/or requirement. You should refer Employment News weekly so that you can get any update in this regard. Also updates regarding such jobs are posted by http://www.freshersworld.com/ The syllabus of both GATE and Engineering Services Examination are designed according B.E./B.Tech. course so major portion of the syllabi match but GATE preparation can't be sufficient for Engineering Services Examination. A good preparation for Engineering Services Examination could cover most part of preparation for GATE. The Engineering Services Examination comprises of both objective and subjective questions of the engineering discipline and objective questions from General Awareness and Aptitude. GATE examination contains only objective questions from engineering discilpine and some question based on aptitude. You should refer the syllabus and question papers of both the examination from their official website so that you can get exact idea regarding pattern of exam and level of preparation required.
