Hi all,

Domain of tax advisory in India is covered by a Chartered Accountant. Thus, it is advisable to take CA course. After clearing this exam one can become tax consultant.

However, it is possible for commerce graduate to become a tax consultant. In such case, he must work under a CA firm or join Big 4 consulting firm in tax division.

There are many CA firms which would consider commerce graduate with basic tax knowledge for tax division. For Big 4 one has to clear interview which run into 4 rounds on an average, thus knowledge requirement is at least of intermediate level.

There is a good news for commerce graduates on introduction of GST law in India. Now, apart from above ways, one can be indirect tax consultant by registering himself as GST practitioner for which he has to submit application in form GSTPCT-1 online. Post verification he shall get GST practitioner certificate.
