I have just completed my first year of Electronics engineering. I just want to know that whether 10th and 12th standard marks holds importance in GATE. I want to do M.Tech from IIT. I am planning to give GATE in my pre final year of Engineering.

I secured 92 percent in 10th an 79.2 percent in 12th. I also took a drop after my 12th to prepare for IIT-JEE and AIEEE. Does that drop will affetct me in admission into IIT.

Please guide..

Good luck if you clear the gate in the pre final year.ECE syllabus has been divided into 8 parts:

digital electronics

maths
signals & system
communication
electromagnetics
solid state electronics
There are specified books for each category. For ECE, this is the syllabus.For EEE, they can apply for both from ece and ee.Choose your best...

Gate score is valid for one year.. so after finishing your final year, you can apply with the score you have obtained.

As GATE score is valid for 2 years, and also Candidates with 60% marks in B.E. / B.Tech and a high GATE score are eligible to apply for various M.Tech. So, you have to apply after your final year.

I'd suggest visit www.books4u.in . It has the widest range of books for GATE .

its best for you,you can prepare once again.
also you can use the marks one after one year.

you will have to wait one year to get a college according to your percentile for M.tech.
As M.tech can be done only after B.tech and gate score is valid for two years.

Candidates with 60% marks in B.E. / B.Tech and a high GATE score are eligible to apply for various M.Tech. So, you have to apply after your final year.

its really good for you that you are giving prefinal gate exam that will reaaly good if you get a good percentile say 95% in gate
there will no effect of your drop year and 10th and 12th exam on your admission in iit
it will be totally based on your gate percentile and your performance in GD and interview

i think giving gate exam in pre final year is best option because we still have one more chance, in case we fail in first chance.
and above all gate score has validity of 2 years.
so go forward without any hesitation.

if you passed GATE pre final yr is wil be very good because there is two yr validity for GATE score and you wiil be elegible for admission and stypend after final year

you will find a better edge.
definitely the best are in iit for m.tech
also i heard that that vit is performing well.
shibpur engg. college is also good.
prepare next year too.

it will be very good option for you if you passed GATE in PRE FINAL year .

the valid rank which you will be obtained, this rank will be reserved for you.

after complition of your btech course, through that rank you can take admission for MTech course.

the GATE score is valid for two year.

don't worry.you have sufficient number in your 10th & 12th for appear in GATE.

also your year gap is not going to affect you at any stage.

do hard labour. make command on your branch's subjects.

if you have cleared GATE in your pre final year then you have to wait for one year.after passing your b.tech. you can taking admission.your score card is valid upto 2 years.

As you have done well 10th and 12th, therefore you don't worry...
the validity of gate exam is 2years , so if you qualified in GATE with good percentile in 3rd year of your graduation, then you can join in Mtech after completion of your Btech on the basis of your score card..

so, you can go for it..

for getting good percentile in GATE you have to work hard..

My name is RAJESH and i have scored AIR 347 in GATE 2010 when i was in pre-final year,Now i'm planning to join Mtech in 2012 ,As there is clause saying that :GATE score is valid till March 15th 2012"..Can i admission before that date , when are the colleges normally give out application and when can i appy for 2012...me pretty confused..Please help me out.

Firstly your drop will not be any hurdle for admission in IITs, but it can be asked at the time of interviews and you have to have a valid reason for that.
As you asked, if you clear your GATE exam in pre final year, then you are eligible for admission in colleges for final year but you have to check guidelines and rules of GATE conducting IIT, because each year its not only pattern but also validity is changing and one have to be in touch with the new rules. Like 2 years ago, GATE exam's validity was only one year, but now it is changed to two years. So it depends upon time.

Don't worry about your 10th and 12th score
It has no role in GATE exam
You can write GATE in pre-final year and if you cleared in that then there is no problem about your admission because GATE score card is valid for TWO years
You can join the M tech after completing your B tech course

Marks of 10th and 12th doesnt make any difference in GATE.
You can appear in GATE in pre final year and can take admission after BE.
You ranking will change when you took admission after final year as they consider 2 year students for admission.

hi . i m doing my 3rd yr now in civil engineering, i dis continued my first yr,then i have got re admission again in the same college,,this one yr which i have dis continued wil affect my gate score admisssion or in any stage of my career?pls reply

Very good you have set your target for GATE early on .
Your GATE score of pre final year would be valid for admission after you finish your final year.
The best thing to do is also go for GATE in final year as because you would definitely come with good score than prefinal year.
And For IIT you have to score above 95% .

i have passed gate in 2011 with good percentile i want to know whether iam eligible for admission to mtech in iit this year itself and seat will be reserved for me after i finished my degree and join iit a year after

hi i m piyush jain.....i got 550 score and 97.5 perc. with 3068 in gate exam 2011.....
what collage i got easily.....and because of i applied in 2011....a new scorer of 2012 of same rank may be there.....which get priority in 2012 counseling for iit or nits.

i wanted to know that do they offer any internship in IITs / or do companies offer internships on the basis of the GATE score....

I have completed my MCA. What can I do by qualifying the GATE exam? How will it open the job prospects for me?

Sir , i completed BE in IT branch in 2009. And i was preparing for GATE .
And attended gate exam in the year 2009, 2010 and 2011.
In first two attempt, i did'nt get enough rank to be into any nit.
In 2011 , i can get admition in nit but not preferred branch.
What should i do?
Should i go for nit college? Or take another last drop.
I want to do mtech in nit or iit.
Is there any age bar, or no. of attempt? Please help me...

there is no need to worry if you have passed in your final year
you can apply with the same mark next year also.
10th and 12th marks are not considered for doing your ME

Hello,I am for IT background (M.Sc(IT)) but want to do M.Tech in (ECE) from IIT please do suggest me if i score good percentile in Gate 2012 then can i get admission in M.tech(ECE)

i heard that, pre final year student will not be able to give gate exam from now onwards, is this right?????

Can i appear in gate 2012 as i am in final year of B.E in mechanical engineering,7th semester.also i want to ask my 10th(55%) and 12th(49%) percent is very low,can it will affect.

I have passed GATE exam in 2011 with AIR- 84 in ME in my pre final year.Will this rank be valid if i give GATE again in the final yr that is 2012??? Can i take admission using the earlier rank??? pls assist....

I am from cs branch , I passed gate in 2011 and got 34.33 marks,440 score n 7840 rank....and now i have given the paper again in 2012 and got 37 marks,384 score n 11551 rank...from which score card should i apply for take admission in to m.tech...i m so confused because in 2011 cutoff for obc was 22.5 and in 2012 cutoff is 28.plz help me....

For GATE exam, there is no importance for 10th & 12th marks besides it looks great to mention good marks..Moreover if you have taken 1-year or 3-year drop before pursuing engineering studies in college, it does not matter at all my friend.
But most of all I may tell you that at present GATE format do not permit pre-final year engg. students to appear. Minimum Qualifications for appearing in GATE entrance exam is that you should be final-year student.

i am a prefinal year cse student may i write the GATE exam in this year?

If your all papers are cleared then wait for gate notice to held a counselling after that you have to go counselling spot and choose their colleges as per your rank in gate
