The result of the UGC-NET to be held on 30th December, 2012 will be made available on the UGC

not be individually intimated about their result.
The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue

lectureship. The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF
awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them. The

exclusively for lectureship will not be considered for award of JRF. Candidates appearing in NET
should clearly specify in the prescribed Application Form whether they are applying for both JRF &
Eligibility for Lectureship OR only for Eligibility for Lectureship. Candidates who qualify the Test for

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and University Grants Commission conducts the National Eligibility Test or NET as it is popularly known as for those students who are looking to do their PhD or seek jobs of lectureship in various universities. UGC conducts the exam for the arts or humanities students and both CSIR and UGC conducts the exam for the science and engineering students.

The main criteria to sit for this exam is that you need to secure minimum 55% of marks at post-graduation level. You can get the degree in any one of the following subject: BS-4 Yr program/BE/BTech/BPharma/MBBS/Integrated BS-MS/M.Sc or its equivalent.

There is 5 percentage relaxation for the reserved category candidates. Which means the SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates needs to get 50% of marks at graduation level.

For Lectureship there is no upper limit as such. For JRF there is an upper age limit of 28 years for the general category. SC/ST/OBC candidates will get a 5 years age relaxation.

The written examination has two exam papers: Objective Test and Subject Test. The validity of the fellowship programme is one year which means that the student needs to register for the PhD degree within one year from the date of selection.

Cost of application form is different for different categories. For general category it is Rs. 400, for OBC candidates it is Rs. 200 and for SC/ST/PH candidates it is Rs. 100.

Hope this helps :-> :->
