The Eligibility criteria to register in to the Phd program in Mathematics varies from University/Institute to University/Institute.

Following are the list of three Institutions offering Phd program in Mathematics, along with admission criteria:

Delhi University Department of Mathematics

In order to be eligible to register in to the Phd program in Mathematics from the Delhi University, candidate must hold a Masters Degree/M.Phil Degree in Mathematics from a recognized University. One must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the M.Phil degree or a minimum of 55% marks in the Master’s degree. 5% is relaxed for the SC/ST candidates. Admission is through written test and past academic records. The merit lists is prepared by taking into account 25% weight of marks scored in each of Under Graduate and Post Graduate examinations and 50% weight of marks scored in the written test.

Christ University

In order to be eligible to register in to the Phd program in Mathematics from the Christ University, candidate must have completed the Post Graduate Degree and M.Phil degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized Institution. One must have scored a minimum of 55% marks in the Post Graduate Degree program. Provision for exemption from holding an M.Phil degree is subject to submission of application in the prescribed format with a separate letter seeking for exemption in the same duly supported by relevant documents relating to research experience. Admission is through written test and personal Interview. Past academic performance will also be considered while giving admission. Candidates who have appeared for NET/SLET are exempted from appearing the Christ University Entrance Test for Phd Program.

Chennai Mathematical Institute

Candidate with an M.Sc. degree in Mathematics or equivalent and candidates with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Science with a strong aptitude for research are eligible to apply for the Phd program in Mathematics. Admission is through an entrance examination to be conducted at centres throughout the Country.
