If you are interested in pursuing career in journalism then you must apply for Bachelor in Journalism and Mass communication, but if you just want to work in a news channel only then its a different topic, because there are several departments exist under a media company, like HR, Finance, Administration, Marketing, Business operation, etc.

So, if you solely want to work as a journalist under a media house, then you should pursue for BJMC, and if your college lags in placing students then the best way of getting a job at any media or channel is to apply as intern and work their and if you could give your level best they will offer you PPO on side, its because if have seen thing like this.

In general there are many scopes like anchor, script editor, information assimilating staff, field reportor, etc.

Good Luck,
