Dear friend,

CPT stands for Common Proficiency Test. This is an entry level test in order to get admission in Chartered Accountancy course. For getting admission in CA course first you have to pass CPT exam. This exam is conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI). Those candidates who have completed their 12th class or Graduation can apply for this course. These tests are conducted two times in a year in the month of June and December.

Eligibility Criteria:-

1)- Those candidates who have completed 12th class in any stream can apply for this course.

2)- Those who have completed their graduation can also apply for this course.

Exam Pattern:-

Session-I :-

Two sections
Total time - 2 hours
Total Marks - 100 marks

Section A-

Fundamental Accounting - 60 marks

Section B-

Mercantile Laws - 40 marks

Session- II :-

Two sections
Total time - 2 hours
Total Marks - 100 marks

Section C-

General Economics - 50 marks

Section D-

Quantitative Aptitude - 50 marks

The notification for CPT exam has not declared till now for the year of 2013. It will be declared soon.

The CPT known as the Common Proficiency Test for the entry level examination for the CA course is held twice in a year in June & December.

The dates of CPT June 2013 are as follows-:

Date of Examination-> 16/06/2013.
There would be TWO sessions as,
Morning Session(First Session )-> 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Afternoon Session(Sesond Session)-> 2 PM to 4 PM.


There would be 2 sections in both the sessions,
First Session-Section A-> Fundamentals of Accounting & Section B-> Mercantile Laws.

Second Session-Section C-> General Economics & Section B-> Quantitative Aptitude.


The last date for registration with the ICAI(Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) for the CPT is 02/04/2013.

The application can be filled ONLINE by visiting http://icaiexam.icai.org->03/04/2013 to 24/04/2013 (upto 5:30 PM)

Payment of Examination Fees of Rs.500/- can done through Visa/Master Credit or Debit Card.


The application forms along with the brochure can also be obtained by paying Rs.1000/-from offices of ICAI from 03/04/2013.
The last date is 24/04/2013,for receiving the filled application form which must be sent to -> Additional Secretary (Examinations), The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, ICAI Bhawan, Indraprastha Marg,
New Delhi–110 002.

Hand delivery facility of the application forms will be also available upto 24/04/2013 in the offices of ICAI in the following cities,
Kanpur,Mumbai,Chennai,Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune,Hyderabad,Jaipur,New Delhi and Bangalore.

---->Common Proficiency Test application forms duly filled in may be sent so as to reach the Additional Secretary (Examinations) at New Delhi not later than 24th April, 2013.

----> Applications duly filled in will be received by hand delivery at the offices of Institute at New Delhi and at the Decentralised Offices of the Institute at Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Kanpur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Pune upto 24th April, 2013. Candidates residing in these cities are advised to take advantage of this facility.

---->It may be noted that there is no provision for acceptance of application forms after 24th April, 2013 with late fee.

---->The candidates who fill up the examination application form online at (http://icaiexam.icai.org) from 3rd April, 2013 (10.00 hrs) to 24th April, 2013 (17.30 hrs) and remit the fee online by using either VISA or MASTER Credit/ Debit Card shall not be charged Rs. 500/- (i.e. cost of application form fee) in order to popularize filling-in of application form online.
