i wnt 2 knw is merchant navy is a private or government sector? wat z eligibility criteria nd wl there is any future?

you should have born b/w 1990-1993 for the upcoming recruitments educational qualification minimum 10th for sailors exam and 10+2 for highèr post with phiscs and math's compulsary . New forms will be posts from 10th nov. And if you want really to join NDA .NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY the new forms r available today for nda i 2011 for army, navy .and airforce competative exams go to upscgov.in to fill up form online bye yar |

merchant navy belongs to both. means it can be private as well as govermental as per need since we can see that so many privatees are also endulged in this .
so if you are interested in government sector then apply for merchant navy of government sector. merchant navy serve the work of transportation. |

Merchant Navy is a government sector.The minimum qualification is 10+2with (pcm) .you sical also should pass the physical test and fitness test for sea service and you have eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness.Merchant Navy Merchant Navy : Eligibility & Course Areas Educational qualification: The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness. Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field. Selection: Candidates are selected for the B.Sc. Nautical Science degree of TS Chanakya, Mumbai; and the four-year Marine Engineering degree course at Marine Engineering Research Institute (MERI), in Calcutta and Mumbai, known as DMET, through the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), which assesses the candidate’s knowledge of physics, chemistry and mathematics. The examination is followed by personal interviews/counseling, where the interviewers assess the degree of alertness, and awareness of the external environment, in the candidates and their suitability for a career in the Merchant Navy. The entry level for a fresh Marine Engineer (ME) is at the rank of fifth engineer or junior engineer and a Nautical Science graduate is as a Deck Cadet. Promotions depend on further examinations conducted by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), the quality of experience and personal merit. On successfully completing these examinations the candidate receives the 'Certificates of Competency' needed for promotion to the respective classes. This examination is conducted by the Ministry of Surface Transport, in association with the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) Mumbai, for determining the promotion prospects for the officers. Direct entry to Merchant Navy is also possible - students who have completed their 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) are eligible to join as Deck Cadets and a student holding a bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology Engineering could also join the Merchant navy as a Engine Cadet/ Fifth Engineer/ Junior Engineer. Direct entry Deck Cadets are required to undergo basic pre-sea training arranged by the recruiting company itself and the direct entry Engineering cadets are preferred to do a Pre-sea course of 9 months duration in Marine Engineering conducted by the MERI. |

Merchant Navy is a govt sector.For Navigational and engineering fields a candidate must be a B.sc degree holder.But for Deck Cadets He have completed their 12th with PCM.The future is very bright as the salary is very high & one can get a nof benefits in his job period and it earned HIM a lot of reputation too.

Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India, takes care of the training needs and conducts competency exam through the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) for Merchant Navy.
Eligibility for Merchant navy :- Educational Qualification :- Minimum of B.Sc. degree in mechanical or marine engineering. Age:- Within 20 years. SC/ST will get age relaxation of about 5 yrs. Marital status :- Unmarried male and female candidates. Job Prospects :- Merchant Navy is the backbone of international trade, carrying cargo across the globe. Merchant Navy which is one of the Best course where many young aspirants show their Interest , Career in Merchant Navy involves tough Physical form along with sporting adaptive and adjustable attitude , love for adventures and challenges. Besides these you also should be Flexible , patient , willing to do long stretches of work etc. Eligibility : Educational qualification : Minimum eligibility for Nautical science is 10+2 with Physics , Chemistry , Mathematics as your main subjects. If you are interested to go for Merchant Navy Engineer you should have completed your Bachelor in Engineering. Direct entry into as Deck cadets is also possible if you have completed your 12th with PCM , Bachelor in Engineering can go for pre sea training and join at MERI.
