For applying for entrance exam the candidates need to have a minimum of 70% in physics, chemistry and maths combined. There is also an age limit of 24 years. This is a challenging field. You need to work hard during your 12th standard to achieve it.

dear friend,
for IIST exam, you will have to get 60% or above marks in 12th class. the exam is very tough and the questions are even tougher than iit exam. so you must prepare yourself for that. also you should watchout for the age limit which is only 24 years.
