Re: Is Msc Computer Science Student eligible for writing CSIR-UGC Net Exam?
Dear friend,
There is separate research fellowship program for engineering students offered by the CSIR. That fellowship is known as GATE-JRF program. To qualify for that you must have a B.Tech degree with at least 60% marks and a valid GATE score. CSIR-UGC NET exam is conducted for the students of general sciences like: physical sciences, mathematical sciences, earth sciences, arts subjects, biological sciences etc. So you are not eligible to write CSIR-UGC NET exam. If you want to do fellowship program in CSIR then you must score a valid GATE rank and then you can apply for GATE-JRF. Best of luck! |

You seem to have confusion between various NET examinations. The NET examination is divided into three parts. UGC-NET: Conducted by UGC itself. CSIR-UGC-NET: Conducted by COUNCIL OF SCIENTIFIC AND INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH It includes only following subjects Chemical Sciences, Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences Life Sciences Mathematical Sciences Physical Sciences ICAR-UGC-NET or ARS-NET: Conducted by INDIAN COUNCIL FOR AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH. It includes only Agricultural Subjects. Therefore you are eligible for the UGC-NET exam only and not the CSIR-NET. |
