Hello, I got failed in 10th standard. Now, I want to give my Board exam from NIOS Board. So, I want to know that is this Board recognized by UGC? Kindly let me know about this as soon as possible. Waiting for your response!

The full form of NIOS is National Institute of Open Schooling.

NIOS is a central government recognized board. NIOS is recognized by UGC, State government and other technical organization for job and academic purposes.

So, yes, NIOS is recognized by University Grants Commission.

NIOS is not recognized by UGC. Because, UGC recognizes Universities, institutions and not Board of Education.

However, NIOS is setup by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in the year 1989.

Before this, it was started as a pilot-project by CBSE in the year 1979.
