Re: Procedure for Admission in Karnataka Medical Colleges under Kashmiri Migrant Catergory
# KCET stands for Karnataka Common Entrance Test.
# You have expressed the wish for joining any Medical College in Karnataka. For this, you have to appear in KCET (Medical) compulsorily. # As far as quota/reservation for Kashmiri migrants in total number of seats is concerned, please note that reservation is made in favour of son/daughter of Jammu and Kashmir migrants, as per prevalent rule, i.e. one seat each in all the Government Medical and Dental Colleges of the State and also one seat each in engineering colleges. The main purpose of Karnataka Common Entrance Examination (KCET) is to make the admission in first semester of various undergraduate courses such as medical, dental, Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, yoga etc. within the State of Karnataka. # The KCET is conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) generally in the month of April every year. # Required educational qualification for KCET (Medical) is: * 10+2 in subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from recognised board. * Candidate of General category and OBC category must have taken minimum 45% marks in 10+2. * Candidate of SC and ST category must have taken minimum 40% marks in 10+2. # Required age limit: * Must have attained the age of 17 years as on 31 December of concerned year. * There is no any specified upper age. # Important dates regarding KCET 2016 are: * 4th week of January 2016: Availability of application form * 1st week of March 2016: Deadline for submission of application form * 3rd week of April 2016: Issuance of admit card for KCET 2016 * 4th week of April 2016: Date fixed for KCET 2016 * 1st week of June 2016: Declaration of result of KCET 2016 * 1st week of June 2016: Counselling for KCET 2016 # Names of few suggested books for the preparation of KCET are given below: * Trueman's Objective Physics for Medical/Engineering Entrance Examinations * Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday, Resnik and Walker * New Simplified Physics: A Reference Book for Class XI and XII by S.L. Arora * Dinesh's Objective Physics * Dinesh's Objective Chemistry * Dinesh's Objective Biology * Modern's ABC of Chemistry for class XI and XII * Organic Chemistry for the JEE (English) by Robert Neilson Boyd * Trueman's Objective Biology for Medical Entrance Examnations |
