It would be better if you try for the Indian Air force for the officer rank after the 10+2. If you get selected then it Indian Air force is best choice and if not then doing higher studies is better option for you.

You can apply for the Indian Air force after the 10+2 through National defence academy examination. This examination is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year.
To apply for this examination a candidate should be 10+2 pass and should have physics and maths at 10+2. Those appeared in the 10+2 exam are also eligible to apply for the NDA examination.

Age Limit
For the NDA examination candidate age should be between 16.5 to 19 years.

If you want to go for Indian Air Force/Navy after 12th then you can go For NDA exam.

Your 12th standard subject must be Mathematics and Physics.Then you are eligible for NDA exam.

Candidate must be 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Other criteria:

1. The candidate should be between 16-1/2 to 19 years of age

2. Your marital status should be single.

Yes,it is right decision to join in Indian Air Force/Indian Navy after 12th class.Because,once you clear the entrance of the defense service exam.You will able to do graduation degree in Engineering and as well you will salary for working in Defense service.

So to join in Defense service soon after 12th class,you should appear for NDA entrance.This exam is conducted by UPSC every year twice,to take qualified students into different defense service like

Eligibility criteria for NDA exam:

For Indian Navy/Indian Air Force wings:
You should have complete 12th class with PCM stream from a recognized university.
And your age should be between 16 1/2 to 19 years.
For Indian Army wings:
You should have complete 12th class with any stream from a recognized university.
And your age should be between 16 1/2 to 19 years.

This exam notification will release in the month of December and May every year.
If you are fulfilled with this criteria,then you can appear for this year NDA exam.
Opening date for issuing application form is 31st December 2011.
Last date for submitting the application form is 30th January 2012.
And exam will held on 15th April 2012.

NDA is definitely a very wise option to choose,since you can have a bright future.

The minimum eligibility criteria with which a candidate can join Air Force is by completion of 12th class from a recognized institute.
For this, one has to crack NDA Exam which is going to be conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) twice a year.

To Join Indian Airforce Just After Passing Class 12th, You need to apply for the UPSC NDA exams:


Educational Qualifications:

I am not the right person to decide the best option between going for M.Tech course and getting into defence services.

The reason why I am saying like this is, you are the best person to judge your interests, goals and other things like your skills, talent, subject knowledge etc.

If you have profound interest to join Navy or Air Force, then choose that way.

Unlike that, if you want to go for M.Tech and have a professional job, then you can go in that way.

But I can say you the following things.

You can immediately get into defence services like
Army
Navy
Air Force
soon after the completion of 12th class by cracking NDA Exam and other selection procedure.

But to complete M.Tech course, it will take 6 more years (4 years for B.Tech and 2 years for M.Tech). We can not guarantee the boom for the course that you will do in your M.Tech course.

Defence services will give you job guarantee as they are public services at central level.

But after completion of M.Tech course, you have to work with private sector only in many cases.

In defence services,starting salaries are low but there is a great scope in the future.

After completion of M.Tech course, the salaries are high and getting a job depends upon the talent that the candidates should have.

So, compare yourself of which is the best choice for you and go accordingly.

One more I can suggest you is,

Try to crack NDA Exam and the rest of selection procedure soon after the completion of 12th class, if you get through the selection procedure, then join defence services.

If you are not able to get through the selection procedure, then opt for Engineering course.

If you are only 12th passed at the age of 20 years then you cannot join Indian Navy in officer rank.

For NDA which is conducted for 12th passed students, maximum permitted age is 19 years at the time of commencement of the course.

For CDS examination which is conducted for graduate the maximum age allowed is 22 years if you are intended to join Indian Navy.

However, you can join Indian Military Academy or Officers' Training Academy after completing of graduation through CDS examination as the maximum age is 24 years and 25 years respectively for these two academies.
