How To Join Indian Navy or Air Force

Although you have passed 12th but the age is not on your side..The age limit to appear for National Defense Academy (NDA) Exam is 16.5-19 years but you have already crossed the age limit..so now you can appear for the Combined Defense Services (CDS) Exam

A candidate is eligible to appear for the CDS Exam only if :-

1) The candidate should be in the final year of graduation or must have already completed his graduation from a recognized University..

2) The candidate must be within the age limit of :-

>> 19-22 years for Indian Navy
>>19-23 years for Indian Air Force
>> 19-24 years for Indian Military Academy
>> 19-25 years for Officer's Training Academy

You will be facing 3 papers each carrying 100 marks on :-

>> General Awareness
>> Maths
>> English

The CDS Exam is conducted every year in the months of February and September..

At the age of 20 years you are not eligible to join Indian Navy and Air Force after passing 12th through NDA.

NDA - National Defence Academy, the entrance exam for which is conducted by UPSC twice every year to join Indian Army, navy and Air Force wing of NDA.

The eligible candidate must be an unmarried Indian Male having either appear for the final 12th exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised Board within the age of 16.5 to 19 years with good Physical and Mental Fitness, can apply for Indian Navy/Air Force wing of NDA.

Hence you can apply for Indian Air Force/Navy through CDS(Combined Defence Service) entrance exam conducted by UPSC after Graduation Degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 23 years.

Yes you can. My friend also joined in Indian Air force after +2.

To Join Indian Army or Indian Navy Just After Passing Class 12th, You need to apply for the UPSC NDA exams:

Educational Qualifications:
Army Wing-12th Pass in any stream
Navy & Airforce Wing- 12th Pass with Subject Physics and Maths as subjects.


Age- Minimum 16.5 years
Maximum 19 years
No age relaxations is given to any candidates who apply for the NDA exams

Next NDA exams would be held in April 2014

Only Candidates born between 2nd January 1996 to 1st July 1998 can apply for these exams

Male candidates are only allowed to apply for the NDA exams

The eligibility criteria of NDA is listed below:-

A candidate should be 10+2 pass with minimum 60% of marks and compulsary subject are physics and Maths for
the Indian Air force.
Those appeared in the 12th board examination are also eligible.
Candidate age should be between 16.5 to 19 years.
Your nationality should be INDIAN.
You should be unmarried.
