Scope of B.Tech Course in Food Technology

The food Technology has a wide meaning and usually refer to the
Techniques and principle involve in process and preserving the food
substances. As food is an essential item for survive, the food Technology
course has a wide scope in different government and private sector
dealing with food product.

B.Tech in Food Technology :

This is a four year (three year after diploma) degree engineering course
offered by many Institutes in India. For the admission in this course the
minimum educational qualification is 10+2 or Diploma in food technology.

Scope after completion of degree in Food Technology :

After a degree course the scope of getting a job is increases, as student
have more knowledge about the subject and industrial techniques.

->Can apply for job in the food corporation of India.

-> Other government job like public Service commission jobs.

->Private food sector do required food technologists. You can look for when they recruit and apply for a suitable post.

For a good job, you could look at some of the companies, which are in the business of manufacturing food products and may also have an in-house R& D facility.

With a degree in food technology you can work in any of the following fields: Food service field, Institutional Catering, Health Care field, Research & Development and Social Welfare.

Food service field include food Catering service, Restaurants etc.

Historically some of the companies which have been recruiting Process and Food technology experts have been Nestle, Levers, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer, Pepsi Foods, Cargill, Conagra, Verka, Vita etc. to name a few.

At the entry level, a lot of organizations prefer to go directly to the educational institutes to recruit and participate in the institute’s campus recruitment process.

B.Tech., in food technology is may be the good course, but in the industry view, no one is ready to take the freshers, if they are taking means it is only from IITs, Now the food industries are working with mechanical and chemical engineers, because most of the MNCs are automated and process controlled, so specifically food technologist are not wanted by industry peoples.
