well i think if you choose sociology as your subject to appear in UGC net it will be very beneficial. and in sociology you will have to select your optional subject too like industrial sociology, gender or rural sociology. Mostly those have cleared UGC Net who have opted rural sociology as their optional subject.

University Grants Commission(UGC)
NET exam conducts by UGC two time in a year in june and december. The notification is publish in month of march and september for net exam. To apply net exam candidate should be post graduate with 55% marks in any subject from recognised university. Age of candidate should be 28 for JRF and for lecturership there is no upper age limit. you can take Development Planning/ Development Studies as a subject. the code of these subject is 01. for more detail visit on offical website:- www.ugc.ac.in Previous paper Syllabus |

yes of course Sociology is a good subject to clear NET exams and it has wide scope. well you can teach any subject related to sociology like rural sociology, industrial sociology, gender, humanities, human values.
Trust me it is a good subject to opt. |

I Have done MA in Economics in 1995 and I am 38 years old. Can I appear in NET Exame? If yes then with what subject I can apply or with what subject I should apply?
