Hello friend..

by reading your question I can Understand one thing clearly that you are totally confused with the pattern and all..

but don't need to worry..

its very simple to understand ..

I'll try to clarify. first know about the examination and basic terms..

IAS (Indian Administrative Service.) which is one of the civil service among 23 services of india.

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)

This has a very simple eligibility criterion.

i.e.,
The main basic eligibility criteria for Civils Service Examination

->Candidate must have 21 years of age

->Candidate must complete at least degree from a recognized Indian University

this is all about the basic eligibility criteria of CSE

after knowing the eligibility know something about the examination

the exam is of three stage i.e,

CSAT

MAINS

INTERVIEW

CSAT is the common for all the candidates so there is no special to say about this ..

this is a new pattern we have to see the first batch clearly..

don't know the exact pattern..

there's know discussion about Negative marking too..

Most probably there will be No Negative Marking.

Anyways hope for the best..

after this you have to select the optionals for MAINS and

after completing interview

you will get rank and so on..

All the very best for everything

Regards

~aditya~

The Civil Services Examination is conducted in two parts i.e., the Preliminary
Examination and the Main Examination
.

ELIGIBILITY:

Graduate with any stream from a recognized college.

So it doesn't matter with which stream you have done graduation as all
stream students can apply for exam

Age should be between 21 to 30 years
33 years for OBC
35 years for SC/ST .

Negative marking :

1/3rd of the marks (0.33) assigned to a question will be deducted in case of a wrong
answer as a penalty.

I assume that you are talking about the IAS prelims exam and since it is an exam covering broad subjects and especially general knowledge, negative marketing is really important. It adds another dimension to the whole exam and you need to make intelligent guesses, earlier you could have gone with wild guesses. IAS subjects can be chosen from a given set of disciplines like science, social science, politics, history, public administration, economics and so on. If you make a wrong answer, 1/3 of the marks will be deducted. So attempt only those questions which you are quite sure about the answer

To Become an IAS officer, you have qualify in two exam i.e Civil preliminary exam(CPE) and Mains exam(ME).

The Civil prelims exam is for 450 marks. In 450 marks,it include 300 marks for Optional subject i.e degree level subject and 150 marks for General studies.

If you qualify in this exam, then only you will be allowed appear for Mains exam.

The mains exam is for 2000 marks.

For optional subject, you have to prepare from degree subjects.
For General studies, you should be update with current affairs and Indian history etc.

For Indian History prefer your schooling subjects.

Negative marking is 0.25 for any wrong answer.

So you must be careful before answering any question.
