If you are looking for exam specifically for Civil Engineers then its better to appear for the Indian Engineering Service. This exam is conducted for engineering graduates from our streams:

It makes you eligible for the Indian Engineering Service. However I should warn you that its one tough exam to crack and since the jobs offered are quite reputed, there is stiff competition for some 600 jobs for which thousands of Engineers apply.

The Indian Engineering Service is conducted to fill vacant jobs in various government deparments. Since government is also responsible for building roads, highways, bridges, dams etc. there is requirement of Civil Engineers as well.

Below are some departments that hires candidates through Indian Engineering Service:

(i) Indian Railway Service of Engineers

(ii) Indian Railway Stores Service

(iii) Central Engineering Service

(iv) Indian Defense Service of Engineers

(v) Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS)

(vi) Central Water Engineering

(vii) Central Engineering Service (Roads)

(viii) Border Roads Engineering Service

IES Eligibility

1. You should be Indian citizen for jobs offered in IES.

2. Valid B.Tech degree is required.

3. There is no percentage criteria.

4. Your age should not be less than 21 as on August 1 of exam year.

5. Upper age should not be more than 30 as on same date.

6. Relaxation is 3 years in upper age limit for OBC.

I appreciate your interest of making entry into Government Jobs even though you have completed your Civil Engineering.

If you want to serve the country by joining in Public Services, then the followings that are being conducted by UPSC (Unino Public Service Commission) are of good choice for you.

IES Exam (Indian Engineering Services) Exam.

This Exam will be conducted to recruit the candidates into following Engineering Services

Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering

You should have completed your Graduation in Engineering with any of the stream from a recognized university.

Candidates should possess an age between 21-30 years to apply for this Exam.

CSAT Exam.

This Exam is being conducted to recruit the candidates into following Civil Services
Indian Administrative Service
Indian Police Service
Indian Revenue Service etc.

To be eligible for this Exam, you should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university and the required age should be 21-30 years.

If you want to make entry into Defence Services, then CDS Exam will be a good choice for you.

Through this exam, you can join the following defence services
Indian Military Academy
Indian Naval Academy
Indian Air Force Academy etc.

You can also apply for Bank Clerical and PO Exams soon after the completion of your Civil Engineering.

You should have scored a minimum of 60% of marks in your Civil Engineering in order to be eligible for IBPS PO Exam which is the common written exam to be placed in any of the public sector bank in India.

You can choose the one as per your interest.

Wish you all the best.
