i am in b.tech final year (mechanical engg.) and i want to do m.sc in chemistary from iit. what should i do?

My son is from IIT Mumbai done engineering Physics and then JAM exams AIR 2. Wants to do PG or Doctoral programme with financial assistance/scholarship. Preferred topis are classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, quantum feild theory, string theory, general theory of relativity, cosmology, statistical physics, high energy physics, thermodynamics
chaos, nonlinear dynamics, nuclear physics
Why he did not do in IIT Mumbai after AIR rank 2 is that he was not offered single room where he could do his studies, interested to know can he get a single room and admission in PG courses this year. He can face any written exam if required.
