IBPS stands for Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. Every year IBPS will conduct Common Written Exam for the recruitment of PO positions for 19 public sector banks.

The selection procedure will be by
-IBPS PO Common Written Exam
-Interview

The written exam consists of questions from the following categories
-Reasoning
-Quantitative Aptitude
-General Awareness
-General English
-Computer knowledge

In addition to this objective test, one should also appear for Descriptive test.

In descriptive question paper, there will be some questions where in you need to share your views and thoughts.

For some questions, you need to write an essay.

There will be a question on making notes.

For essay, the questions will be from normal topics like
-Televison
-Computer (Advantages, Disadvantages)
-Love Vs Arranged Marriages etc.

Just answer the question in such a way that the content you have is being clearly explained in the paper.

You need to have good written English to put your thoughts on to the paper.

So, try to improve your Writing skills and try to be strong enough in Grammar aspects which will help you in Objective test also.

Have good preparation for this exam and crack it.

dear friend,
Essay Writing - Broadly there are 2 such areas.

(a) Economic , Financial and Banking

(b) Sociological Problems ( Unemployment , Poverty , discrimination against women, corporate governance, corruption in India etc..)

(c) Agricultural and Banking Issues - Recent Developments and Issues.

Though the topics in this section can be anything and everything, but more importance should be given to the recent economical issues around the world.
